The Importance of Colorectal Cancer Screening
This Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, Charleston Oncology joins the national effort to spread awareness about the disease and the importance of regular screenings.
Charleston Oncology has the DigniCap® System, which is FDA approved for women with breast cancer!
The machine works by cooling the scalp causing a reduced blood flow to that area so that less chemotherapy reaches the hair cells. Therefore this reduces chemotherapy-induced hair loss. Prior to this system, patients were required to use manual cold caps kept in freezers and dry ice. Patients would have to change them every 30 minutes to ensure the scalp would remain chilled. Now, you can sit comfortably in your chair with a fitted cap for the duration of your treatment.
