Gene B. Saylors, MD
Medical Oncology and Hematology Specialist

Gene B. Saylors, MD is board certified in Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine. He is a Charleston native and received his Bachelor of Science in Cellular Biology from the University of Georgia. He obtained his Doctorate of Medicine degree from The University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He then entered his internship and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He also completed his fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at The University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Dr. Saylors recently served as a primary investigator in a landmark curative lung cancer trial, enrolling the most patients in the world, and was published in The New England Journal of Medicine. He also has research publications in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, the Journal of General Internal Medicine, and Biology of Blood and Marrow Transplantation. Dr. Saylors serves as the current President of the South Carolina Oncology Society actively working to improve patient care across the state and nationally. He is highly active in clinical research and treats all cancer and blood disorders with a significant interest in gastrointestinal cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, and skin cancers.
